Kirigami Row of Hearts Step 1: Start with a large sheet of origami paper. We used a 25cm x 25cm (~ 10 inch x 10 inch) square sheet of origami paper.
The larger the sheet, the more hearts you'll have in a row.
Fold paper in half on the horizontal axis. Crease well and unfold.
Kirigami Row of Hearts Step 2: Now fold the bottom edge to the center line. Crease well and unfold.
Kirigami Row of Hearts Step 3: Fold the bottom edge to the crease you just made in Step 2. Crease well and unfold.
Kirigami Row of Hearts Step 4: Now cut the paper as shown. We're just going to use that small strip of paper.
Kirigami Row of Hearts Step 5: Now that you've the strip of paper, fold it in half on the vertical axis.
Kirigami Row of Hearts Step 6: Fold paper in half again. Crease well.
Kirigami Row of Hearts Step 7: Fold paper in half. Crease well.
Kirigami Row of Hearts Step 8: Yes, one more time! Fold paper in half and crease well.
Kirigami Row of Hearts Step 9: Unfold paper completely.
Kirigami Row of Hearts Step 10: We're now going to refold the paper, making pleated (or accordion) folds. It's like when you're folding a fan.
You alternate between making valley and mountain folds. We're not making any new creases, just recreasing the ones already made.
Start by making a valley fold.
Kirigami Row of Hearts Step 11: Next, make a mountain fold.
Kirigami Row of Hearts Step 12: Continue repeating Steps 10 and 11 until it's completed.
Kirigami Row of Hearts Step 13: Draw the pattern onto the paper.
Kirigami Row of Hearts Step 14: Now cut the paper along the pattern lines.
Kirigami Row of Hearts Step 15: Unfold the paper...
and your kirigami row of hearts is complete!
