Modular Sonobe Unit
The modular Sonobe unit was created by Mitsunobu Sonobe. By varying the number of units and the folds on the unit, you can make many, many different modular shapes with this design.

Modular Sonobe Unit Step 1:
Start with a 6 inch x 6 inch (15cm x 15cm) square origami paper, color side down.
Fold paper in half. Crease well and unfold.
Modular Sonobe Unit Step 2: Fold both the top and bottom halves to meet in the center. Crease well and unfold.
Modular Sonobe Unit Step 3: Make 2 diagonal folds, one on the top left and one on the bottom right. Crease well.
Modular Sonobe Unit Step 4: Fold the top and bottom to meet in the center again.
Modular Sonobe Unit Step 5: Make 2 diagonal folds as indicated. Crease well and unfold.
Modular Sonobe Unit Step 6: We're going to refold on the diagonal. But this time, we're going to tuck the bottom left tip under the top layer.
Modular Sonobe Unit Step 7: Repeat Step 6 for the right side. Refold on the diagonal and tuck the top right tip under.
