Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Instructions
Most modular 8-pointed stars require 8 units but this one only requires 4 unit due to its smart design. This is a model by Tomoko Fuse.

Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 1: Start with a regular 6 inch x 6 inch (15cm x 15cm) square origami paper, color side down.
Fold paper in half on the vertical axis as shown. Crease well and unfold.
Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 2: Fold both sides to the center. Crease well.
Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 3: Flip paper over. Fold point A to B. Crease well.
Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 4: Flip paper over.
Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 5: Now pry open the right side. Then fold XY to meet the center crease.
Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 6: Repeat Step 5 on the left side.
Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 7: Now fold down the top layer as shown below.
Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 8: Make a diagonal fold as shown. Note that the diagonal edges on the right and left sides should line up.
Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 9: Fold down the top layer as shown.
Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 10: Repeat Steps 1 to 9 and make a total of 4 units.
We made the units with different colors to show the assembly better but maybe the star will look better with just one color?
Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 11: As you may already know, most modular origami are assembled by inserting a tip into a pocket.
This model uses that same basic assembly method.
Here we've our first 2 units, a red and yellow one. Start by inserting the yellow tip into the red pocket.
Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 12: For this model, you've to assemble the front AND back side.
So flip paper over and this time, insert the red tip into the yellow pocket.
Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 13: Flip paper over.
Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 14: Now we're going to repeat Steps 11 to 13 for the 3rd unit. So insert the tips into pockets for both the front and back sides again.
Front Side: Insert the green tip into yellow pocket.
Back side...Insert the yellow tip into the green pocket.
Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 15: Flip paper over.
Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 16: Time to add the last unit!
Insert the pink tip into the green pocket.
Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 17: Flip paper over.
The pink unit is sitting below the red unit. Bring the pink unit to the top. Basically they're just exchanging places. Nothing changes except their positions.
Now, insert the green tip into the pink pocket.
And insert the pink tip into the red pocket.
Origami Fuse 8-Pointed Star Step 18: Flip paper over. Insert the red tip into the pink pocket.
And your origami Fuse 8-pointed star is complete!
